Everyday lifestyle goods are clearly getting the luxe treatment nowadays, whether it’s colour pencils or, in this case, a 3D-printed e-bike by German luxury house MCM. Known best for their monogrammed bags, they’ve collaborated with bike creators URWAHN for an expert take on the leisure accessory — or alternative transportation vehicle. Only 50 units are available worldwide.
The brand’s first e-bike was first featured in their AW21 M’ETAVERSE campaign, featuring A$AP Nast alongside models and digital creators Stella Lucia and Kiddy Akita, who were styled head-to-toe with looks from the Fall/Winter collection. Its launch signals a category expansion for MCM, where hopefully, we get to see more lifestyle pieces in the coming years.
Of the MCM x URWAHN e-bike, this one’s especially well-made. Each bike uses URWAHN’s iconic high-performance Platzhirsch frame, and is designed, developed and produced in Germany, then hand-assembled by the bicycle brand’s highly-skilled craftsmen in Magdeburg. It features a 3D-printed steel frame, which of course then bears MCM’s signature Visetos monogram; the frame is fully coppered and wrapped with a black oralite rendition of it, while the MCM logo is stamped onto a custom brass front plate. Other features include Brooks Cambium grips and a reflective logo hit inside the bicycle’s custom rims.
