Jo Malone London Dives Into Aquatic Scents For Their Latest Brit Collection

You’ll want to take a deep breath here. Inspired by ‘wild swimming’, Jo Malone London‘s latest series of scents invites you to explore the natural beauty of the British Isles, with five limited-edition aquatic scents that take us from the crystal-clear waters of a secluded cove, to the salty waves crashing on a sandy shore. And every one of them sound just as dreamy too.

“Wild swimming has a truly universal appeal, and, particularly in our current times, offers just about everyone an accessible experience of freedom in nature. That’s something we were all inspired by and tried to celebrate in this collection,” says Céline Roux, the fragrance house’s Global Head of Fragrance.

The scent story was created together with celebrated perfumers Anne Flipo and Delphine Lebeau, with new fragrance Crystal Champion being the first scent they came up with, meant to conjure up fairytale imagery of a cascading waterfall that flows into a clear-water cove.

“It was all about transparency and clarity with light floral touches,” she elaborates, stating notes of davana, blackcurrant, woven with a campion flower accord and base of ambroxan. Clearly, light and transparent scents are having a moment, and we can’t help but fawn over this one. A Hydrating Face Mist, scented with Crystal Campion, is also available as part of the limited edition collection.

Then again, the other scents such as Salty Amber, a more sensual piece, and Forest Moss, with a warm and woody appeal, capture the more moody qualities of the British Isles. The former contrasts between “the turbulent energy of the waves and the sea’s depth and power”, says Delphine, with spicy cardamom at the top, above an aromatic layer of myrtle and clary sage, followed by amber and seaweed for a sensual drydown.

For Forest Moss, expect a woody fragrance layered with juniper, peppermint, geranium and lavender, atop a base of moss and patchouli, which aims to mimic the sights and smells of a trek alongside a secluded river in the woods.

Aqua Lemon is also unique — in fact, this one’s inspired by British open-air public pools, a man-made environment instead of a natural one. The easy-to-wear fragrance blends a refreshing and citrusy mandarin with energising spearmint, cedarwood and amber, for the feel of diving into an open-air pool in the morning.

The collection is then complete with fan-favourite scent, Wood Sage & Sea Salt, which layers perfectly with each of the four new scents. Recalling the lingering smell of sea salt and rugged cliffs along the coast, it’s a woody, warm scent lifted by the fresh note of sea salt. This key Jo Malone London scent is available in 30ml and 100ml Colognes, and a special-edition Home Candle.
