Furla’s Line Of Eco-Friendly Bags Includes The Re-Candy, & Other Fun Tote Bags

The sustainable movement is here to stay, and it looks like more and more fashion brands are into it, and introducing more sustainable practices and materials into their signature collections as well. We’re talking Italian brand Furla and their iconic Re-Candy, a vibrant line of satchel bags now made from recycled plastic — but that’s just the start of their eco-friendly series of bags.

Good news, we’ve got loads more options to choose from! The slim and chic Linea Futura collection, for instance, make cute workwear or brunch staples, while a more recently-launched Furla Net explores a tote bag silhouette that can be slung across the body or worn as a handbag. Ahead, a look at their new-in sustainable bags.

FURLA NET

The latest iterations of the Furla Net, a tote bag design, is made using Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU), which, unlike rubber, silicone and most other plastics, is 100% recyclable and biodegradable. This material also has other distinct advantages, such as long-lasting wear thanks to its abrasion-resistant properties and innate durability. The original open-top design sees two top handles and a twist-lock closure at the front, for the ultimate in chic.

FURLA LINEA FUTURA

Then, there’s this cute number, the Furla Linea Futura, a minimalist design available in 11 pastel or neon shades. The structured style features a small top handle, removable shoulder strap, and a subtle tone-on-tone logo, and most importantly, is made from a special reclaimed Roxy leather effect fabric in compliance with GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certification. This material has been obtained by upcycling tannery waste, while even the process of leather tanning remains metal-free, in order to reduce its environmental impact.

FURLA RE-CANDY

The Furla Candy was a hit when it was first introduced — now, meet the Re-Candy. The first of Furla’s sustainable bags, debuting during Women’s Fashion Week SS22 in Milan, sees the use of recycled Thermoplastic Polyurethane throughout the main body of the design, a unique plastic material that’s been gathered and restored from previously-produced materials for a circular approach to sustainable fashion.

Furthermore, the Re-Candy name and Furla logo are now embossed onto its surface, which avoids the use of polluting inks, while you may opt for a recycled cord strap should you wish to wear it as a crossbody style. The key thing to note is that you’re able to get the same bold pops of colour, while staying true to your conscious lifestyle.
