The Elegant ‘Épure’ Is Longchamp’s Take On A Minimalist Bucket Bag

Longchamp captures the essence of bucket bags, in the truest sense, with the Épure, a series of beautifully-crafted bucket bags done in single-toned leather or woven styles. And, my, we’re tempted. The Épure takes on a refined, elegant form, with its smooth silhouette and rounded bottom, which then streamlines into minimalist details such as a simple press stud and short handle, making for a casual number we’d like to tout about town.

While the Russian leather forms in shades of brown, black, orange, yellow, red and green are elegant in their versatility, there’s also a strong case to be made for the multi-coloured, cane-weave iterations too, which take after the familiar bistro chairs typical to Parisian cafes.

Here, we see braided cowhide leather that combines a carefully picked-out colour palette — a funky bright orange is accented with white, blue and purple; sweeter hues abound on a pale pink version that’s interlaced with white, red and black leather; while a more neutral but still cheery beige base sees colours of red, yellow and blue in between. Furthermore, these are made with leftover leather from previous productions, sustainably upcycled into a most creative new form.

The Fall/Winter 2022 launch also sees another style of the Épure bucket bag, this time in a more chunky cable-knit style braided leather. Alongside that, we can also expect two designs that expand on the sophisticated range — a small crossbody bag that’s inspired by the flap of the Le Pliage, and interestingly, a chic leather bottle holder that’s able to hold a refillable 500ml bottle in insulated steel, one that’s stamped with the Longchamp racehorse logo and dynamic side stripes.
