All The Summer 2022 Collections That Give Off Chic Vacation Vibes

Being an island nation, we really ought to embrace beach dressing a whole lot more — so why not dress up in breezy dresses and sandals, with woven raffia tote bags to match? In other words, peak vacation vibes. These designer brands are here for all of that, clichés and all, with house signatures done in new innovative fabrics and patterns, sunset ombrés, and more so you can always bring along a little holiday mood wherever you go.

CHANEL transports us to the beach with their yearly CHANEL COCO BEACH affair, and for this Parisian house, it’s one filled with a mesmerising sunset and leisurely strolls along the sand. House ambassador and cool-girl Margaret Qualley embodies their ideal summer wardrobe too, in lightweight pink and coral tweed, while the accessories are kept chic in emblematic black and white.

A one-piece swimsuit is laced up with pearls, certainly an ode to the sea, while we see more casual accessories adorned with the coveted double C logo, with plenty of terry cloth-like detailing, or a fun combination of pearls and nets across new bag designs.

Now, for more of a beach party vibe, LOEWE‘s summery sequin dresses make for a statement, though it’s their line of accessories that we can’t help but lust after, particularly when their signature bags come in playful ombré.

The Puzzle, Hammock, Amazona, Goya and more sport beautiful gradients, a dégradé effect, that mimic the sunsets of Ibiza, while the iconic Anagram is turned into a leather cut-out style on canvas totes. Of course, woven straw and raffia bags abound too and show off the Spanish house’s fine craftsmanship; the Anagram Basket is the summer staple you’ll want, with its handwoven body, calfskin straps, and an embroidered calfskin Anagram.

Here to turn up the heat is Versace’s La Vacanza collection, made to look “beautiful and seductive”, according to Donatella Versace herself. And she gets it right every time. Expect the Italian house’s barocco prints, for sure, now seen across bikini sets, even more silk shirts, printed silk scarves and swimming trunks.

For fun pops of colour against the sand, the La Medusa mini bag arrives in shades of vibrant blue, yellow, and sea green, while that gilded Medusa medallion hardware wan be found on beach slippers too. Also fun: Baroque flourishes on a pair of Medusa Dimension sliders, which are made from super-lightweight, moulded rubber.

Burberry’s now-classic house code gets even fresher. The TB Summer Monogram, designed by Chief Creative Officer Riccardo Tisci, reflects both past and present in its design, done by merging classic checks with the sleek TB logo for a visually arresting new print, especially when hues of orange are introduced too.

To represent the launch, we see supermodel Gisele Bündchen fronting the campaign, as she poses effortlessly in front of unreleased portraits captured by photographer duo Luigi & Iango ten years ago. Naturally, she makes the monogram style look especially good, whether it’s on swimwear or a silk-blend bomber jacket. The range of pieces include sunglasses and a series of bags too, including the Lola Bag, Freya Tote, and a bucket bag style.

CELINE‘s summer series presents more of the classics, though there are beach ensembles of pastel-coloured bouclette cotton, swimwear sets, and light denim separates for avid sun-seekers. What does feel extra summery though are the accessories we are to pair them with.

The Cabas Thais in small or large styles in striped textile and calfskin remind us of beachside carnivals, while CELINE’s Classic Paniers see the hand-braided basket bags with bright and breezy colours on its Triomphe logo. If you’d like to live it up a bit more, there are also luxurious home and outdoor accessories such as a hammock, Finnish keels set and a pétanque set, which has its own little leather bag to hold the metal balls used in the game.

“For the warm season”, says Gucci, though we can imagine these ready-to-wear and accessories extending well beyond summer, seeing how we’re essentially living in the tropics. Their signature bags, for instance, feature the GG monogram woven from a raffia-effect material, which instantly give them laidback, picnic-at-the-beach vibes.

Summer patterns such as houndstooth and seersucker are spotted on the GG Marmont and Bamboo silhouettes as well, and we get the best of both worlds with either sleek sandals or chunky platform mules on our feet. All the better to chase the summer sun.

We get it, not all of us can make it to Sentosa, much less the faraway Mediterranean coastline, which is why Kate Spade New York presents highly practical tote bags for summer in the city — not that they are any less fun though. For a brand known for their whimsical designs, we’d expect fun bag shapes modelled after citrus fruit, for instance, though this season’s extensive collection includes a Manhattan tote done in raffia, straw, and woven stripes that imagine a sunset on your purse.

These striped motifs and raffia material find themselves on other sturdy bags too, while the popular Knott, a more slouchy tote bag silhouette characterised by an elegant knot at the strap, arrives in seasonal colourways of raffia straw stripe, palm fronds, and colourblocking. One must-have for your summer rooftop parties? The Meringue, a cute dumpling-like bag made with soft nappa leather and a braided top handle.

For those who aren’t that keen on colour, there’s always Saint Laurent. Top of our list for summer would be this oversized bag, the Icare Maxi Shopping Bag. Made entirely in soft lambskin, the house’s new It-bag features a flat lozenge quilting, all the more noticeable thanks to its volume.

Then again, there’s still a highly sleek quality to its structure, which you can wear with the sides folded in and held together with an interior gold chain, or flared out for a roomier take. An oversized, sculpted YSL logo goes right in the centre, looking like a piece of jewellery on top of an already-chic accessory. Just look at how Zoë Kravitz styled hers.
