Ed Sheeran is Releasing New Music Today

Update: Ed Sheeran has released not one, but two singles. Listen to Castle On The Hill and Shape Of You now.
After taking a break from social media for more than a year, Ed Sheeran has finally come back online — and in the span of a few days he’s already turning the internet upside down.
On new year’s day, the Thinking Out Loud singer announced that there would be “new music coming Friday” (that’s today!), and has since been posting snippets of his new material on Instagram and Twitter. The most substantial reveal appeared on Snapchat yesterday, where the previous teasers came together to form a 30-second preview of a new song. He might not be able to find love in a club, but Ed clearly hasn’t lost his groove.

On top of new music, Sheeran has also hinted at the name of his third studio album. Much like “+” and “x” before it, the third record will feature the “÷” symbol, so we can safely assume that the album will be called “divide” or some variation of the word. Right now we’re more curious about his obsession with math, and wondering if he’ll retire when he runs out of symbols.

It’s still unclear if today’s imminent release will deliver a new song or an entire album (one can dream), but whichever it is, we’re ready for Ed Sheeran to rule our Spotify playlists in 2017.
