Enjoy Cherry Blossoms in Full Bloom at Gardens by the Bay till March 24

Can’t head over to Japan for the annual cherry blossom season this year? Not to worry. Gardens by the Bay’s Flower Dome is bringing the “Japan“ to you with a full sakura display from now till March 24.
Titled “Blossom Bliss”, the event marks the second time Gardens by the Bay is exhibiting fully bloomed cherry blossoms, after last year’s experimental display to see if the flowers could survive in Singapore’s tropical climate.

Well, it looks like that acid test was passed, and this year; visitors can look forward to an array of over 20 magnificent cherry blossoms, all arranged delicately around a quaint, Japanese-inspired floral setting.
“Despite the challenges of bringing sakura to Singapore, we were encouraged by the positive response from the public last year to explore another floral display this year,” Gardens by the Bay chief operating officer Felix Loh said in a media release.

Varieties of precious flowers to look out for this year include the Prunus Snow Fountain; a plant with clusters of small white flowers, and the Prunus Kikushidare; a tiny ornamental tree that is blessed with beautiful chrysanthemum-like flowers. Peach blossoms will also be featured.
Gardens by the Bay says that more cherry blossom trees will be spread around the Flower Dome, as compared to last year, where the plants were restricted to a small “flower field”.
