Huawei Launches World’s First Triple Camera Smartphone – the P20 Pro

When it comes to taking gorgeous photos, DSLRs and mirrorless cams still rule the roost. But smartphones are catching up. And fast. One such device is Huawei’s new P20 Pro. The new smartphone, which arrives as part of the Chinese tech giant’s new P20 series, has a total of not one, not two, but three Leica-branded cameras.

There’s an 8-megapixel telephoto lens, a 40-megapixel RGB lens, and a 20-megapixel monochrome lens that sits separately from the other two lenses. According to Huawei, this super combo lets users enjoy a pretty impressive 5x zoom, while you can definitely expect a bump up in terms of pixel quality.
Here’s what the new P20 can do:

What’s even cooler is this feature called predictive focus, which allows the phone to automatically switch shooting mode depending on your circumstances. For instance, if you’re taking a portrait shot, the camera will immediately go to portrait settings. Likewise, if you’re taking a picture of food; voila, the camera knows what to do.
This is due to Huawei’s Kirin 970 chipset and the phone’s AI. And for people who can’t take a picture to save their lives, the phone actually offers suggestions on compositions. Perfect for upping your Instagram game, eh?

In terms of general specs, the higher-end P20 Pro has a 6.1-inch OLED screen and a 4,000 mAh battery, while the P20 has a 5.8-inch LCD screen and a 3,400 mAh battery. Colour-wise, you’ve got Black, Midnight Blue, Pink Gold, Champagne Rose, and Twilight – which has a spiffy gradient finish, although availability differs across markets.
That information will only be released later this April, so till then, stick with us for updates.
