Chanel Welcomes A New Version Of The Iconic J12 Watch

Can a watch be deeply technical yet elegantly pared back at the same time? Chanel is answering that with their J12 watch. An iconic drop and precise makeover after its original creation, the latest 2019 J12 collection promises to be the perfect accompaniment for every milestone.

The J12 is a delicate blend of sporty chic. Presented in two iterations, one in black and one in white, with diamond-set and non-diamond-set versions available.

Approaching its 20th anniversary, version 2.0 of the J12 was redefined and built off the core identity that made it legendary, according to Arnaud Chastaignt, director of the CHANEL Watch Creation Studio. Mostly encompassing the same timeless and sporty classic, what’s new to marvel at extends to its skeleton; the bezel was refined with the number of notches increasing from 30 to 40 and the dial numerals are now in ceramic.

The 12.1 calibre exclusively manufactured for CHANEL can be admired via the sapphire crystal case

This is also where the architecture of the 12.1 calibre timepiece takes centre stage as a masterpiece within a one-piece ceramic case equipped with sapphire crystal. And if you are curious to know how the chronometer measures up in terms of power reserve, the time is 70-hours.

With the new refined J12, it encompasses the inner allure of being legendary. That’s exactly why Chanel chose these 10 muses for their ‘It’s All About Seconds’ campaign: Liu Wen, Keira Knightley, Lily-Rose Depp, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Ali McGraw, Anna Mouglalis, Vanessa Paradis, Carole Bouquet and William Chan.

The J12 PHANTOM Watch, $8,400

We particularly like the subtle redesign of the hands especially on the black version that highlights the luminescent areas in black Superluminova, because of how it mirrors that of the white version. The J12 has also been subtly modified with extended links, along with a rounder face, which accents the optical illusion (meaning that case appears no thicker than the original).

The J12 CLASSIC with Diamond Indicators, $10,000

For the ceramic, steel and diamond variant, Chanel played up the game of contrasts by enhancing its dial set with 12 0.09 carat diamonds as indicators. They contrast beautifully with the ceramic numerals and elegant Chanel typeface.
