These CHARLES & KEITH x Singapore Airlines Accessories Are Made From Upcycled Business Class Seats

Two stellar Singapore brands are now collaborating for a limited-edition collection of bags and small leather goods — and this one’s a truly interesting sustainable series using too. CHARLES & KEITH have teamed up with Singapore Airlines for accessories fashioned from upcycled Business Class seats, cushion covers, and other fabrics. These will be launching on 8 August, just in time for us to #supportlocal during this year’s National Day.

The capsule collection sees two key items: the Philomena, a semi-circle crossbody bag, and Brielle, a panelled short wallet. Both are popular designs now re-issued and made with upcycled materials from retired aircrafts. The brown, brick and camel leather come from SIA’s Business Class seats; fabrics from cushion covers and bedsheets are used to line the bag and wallet as well, while blankets have been repurposed into dustbags for these leather items.

Each of the pieces are unique, and come stamped with both brands’ logos on the inside. To showcase the launch, Singapore Airlines will also be hosting a pop-up at Design Orchard from 6 July 2022 – 18 August 2022, so you can see and feel the accessories in-person!

Here’s a closer look at them:

The Philomena boasts a sleek crescent-shaped design, and is made from quilted leather upcycled from Business Class seats. Paired with gold-toned hardware and a chain, you can opt to carry it on your shoulder or sling it across your frame.
