The authority on colour, Pantone, has recognised a new bright green hue — it’s ‘kate spade green’, a gloriously energetic and fresh shade synonymous with the New York-based fashion brand. This particular shade of green has been adored by Kate Spade New York since its beginning, and now further cemented by this partnership with Pantone, launched just in time to commemorate their 30th anniversary.
As a further ode to the optimistic hue, the brand has come up with an exclusive kate spade green capsule collection of handbags, jewellery, and ready-to-wear items take take on the shade.
Key to the capsule pieces is the Sam Icon bag, a modern reinterpretation of a timeless design that debut in 1993. The classic-looking tote bag was known for its clean, minimalist silhouette, qualities that it still retains today even when in the form of a mini tote, shoulder bag, and convertible crossbody. It’s also made with 100% recycled nylon shell on the outside, and a 100% polyester lining on the inside, as a nod to sustainable efforts. Upcoming Spring designs will also see the Sam Icon in new materials such as a fun sequinned gingham.

From as soon as this month, you’ll be able to spot the use of kate spade green everywhere, from refreshed store designs over at the Marina Bay Sands store, to store takeovers in Tokyo and New York that feature the vibrant shade — even a selection of New York’s famous taxi cabs will be zipping about Manhattan in celebratory green too. Expect revamped kate spade green packaging across shoppers, boxes and garment bags as well.
