Somewhere out there in cyberspace, my little red Kacheek might be wondering why I never came back with a slice of the massive omelette. Or why I never gave it a new look with the REALLY expensive paint brush. Or why I never gave it a petpet to assuage its loneliness.
Just when it seemed as if the Neopets era was slowly fading into a distant memory, Neopets just left us reeling with exciting news: Neopets is making a comeback with the Neopets Legends and Letters mobile app.
There’s been rumours about the Neopets app since 2014, so Neopets fans everywhere will be glad to know that its been finalised after a good four years of waiting.
As reported by The Verge, The mobile game Neopets Legends and Letters was announced at a party at the San Diego Comic Conference last weekend by CEO David Lord who said to expect “Neopets lore, a puzzle game mechanic, and battles”. Basically, it’s like a cross between the world of Neopets and Scrabble, so expect some mind-boggling action!
Apart from the app, a mobile site is also due to launch which allows users to play mini-games right on your phone. There’s just one catch: you won’t be able to play with you browser characters (which sadly means my Kacheek will still be tucked away). But, on the bright side, you’ll still be able to customise the clothing and accessories of your Neopets on the mobile game via in-app purchases.
The company hopes to be able to launch the game in October on iOS and Android, so keep your eyes keenly peeled for any updates in the meantime.
Seems like a wish come true for many Neopets fans and nostalgia-seekers alike. It feels like one of those rare moments when you get your wish granted at the wishing tree!
