The High-End Sneaker Collaborations To Splurge On

Sneakerheads are no stranger to the world of collaborations. It’s crazy how the list of collaborations seem to be endless, with new ones dropping ever so often. We’ve picked out some of the more recent and notable high-end collabs that we think you’d love.

Givenchy x Onitsuka Tiger

The classic, all-time favourite Mexico 66 silhouette by Onitsuka Tiger is back with a touch of luxury, thanks to a surprise collaboration between Onitsuka Tiger and Givenchy. The sneakers were first seen at Givenchy’s Spring/Summer 2020 Men’s Show on 12 June, and were made available almost immediately at Givenchy stores the day after. Definitely a pleasant surprise that we didn’t see coming!

The luxury house’s artistic director, Clare Waight Keller, wanted to reinterpret the classic silhouette in a graphic monochrome style, which was then seamlessly integrated into her runway looks. You can say that the shoes are given the most subtle of luxe upgrades — the all-white style features Givenchy lettering as well as the iconic Onitsuka Tiger stripes, while the black version features Givenchy details in red and white. Go ahead, make these Mexico 66 shoes a new staple in your sneaker collection.

Onitsuka Tiger x Givenchy sneakers, $850.
Now available at Givenchy Paragon.

ASICS x Vivienne Westwood

Being functional and fashionable is what this collaboration is about. Expect to see Vivienne Westwood’s famed Squiggle print on these designs, as well as the Vivienne Westwood orb on the back of the shoes. The GEL-MAIâ„¢ Knit MT features a flexible sock that’s been intarsia knitted with the Squiggle print, and a block white leather external structure that adds strength and fastening to the pair. The bulky silhouette, heavy use of overlays, iconic tiger stripe branding and the GEL® technology cushioning makes the GEL-KAYANOâ„¢ 5 OG a comfortable and stylish pair. We had the chance to interview Global Brand Director of Vivienne Westwood, Christopher Di Pietro, recently and you can find out more about Vivienne Westwood and this collaboration here.

ASICSTIGER GEL-MAIâ„¢ Knit MT, $339.
ASICS GEL-KAYANOâ„¢ 5 OG, $289.
Now available at ASICS Plaza Singapura.

Comme des Garçons x Nike

The Nike Shox has made a comeback recently and we’re living for it. Nike has recently collaborated with Japanese fashion label Comme des Garçons to release a stylish take on the chunky silhouette in two colourways — Triple Black and Triple White. The familiar Shox pillars under the heel provide cushioning whilst adding extra detail. The Comme des Garçons metal chain links can’t be missed when the accessory gives the shoes an edgier vibe. Definitely sneakers to covet.

Comme des Garçons x Nike Shox TL, $580.
Now available at Dover Street Market Singapore.

Converse x JW Anderson

It’s not the first time Converse and JW Anderson have collaborated to drop reiterations of classic Converse styles. With the JW Anderson logo all over the shoes, the Chuck 70 Grid and Americana Chuck 70 Grid sneakers are statement pieces to own from this collection. The Run Star Hike has a unique silhouette, with a Chuck Taylor upper atop a chunky, jagged sole; easily our favourite from this collection!

Converse x JW Anderson Runstar Hike in Black, $199.90.
Now available at Pedder on Scotts.

Converse x JW Anderson Americana Chuck 70 and Chuck 70 Grid, $169.90.
Now available at Pedder on Scotts and Limited Edt Chamber.

adidas x Kanye West

This style is only available exclusively in select cities in Africa, Asia Pacific, The Middle East and India… and we’re glad that these will be available in Singapore! The beige and grey colourway makes this a muted yet staple pair to own. It features a re-engineered Primeknit upper, BOOST midsole and a rubber outsole, as well as a translucent stripe across the side of the shoe for that extra aesthetic. Play it safe with the one in Synth, or opt for the one in Synth Reflective if you’re looking for something a little fancy.

adidas x Kanye West YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 in Synth, $349.
Available at adidas Originals Pacific Plaza and Limited Edt Chamber from 22 June 2019.

adidas x Kanye West YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 in Synth Reflective, $450.
Available at Limited Edt Chamber from 20 June 2019.
