The Nike Air Zoom Alphafly NEXT% — a Marathon-Winning Running Shoe To Be Available Soon In Limited Quantities

Back in October 2019, Kenyan long-distance runner Eliud Kipchoge was wearing a prototype of the Alphafly NEXT% when he broke the two-hour marathon record in Vienna. If a prototype was used in a record-breaking race, imagine how much better the final product would be?

The sportswear company is now launching limited pairs of the new Nike Air Zoom Alphafly NEXT% — a running shoe like no other. Specifically tuned for training, the race-day shoe symbolises Nike’s advances in sports technology on their journey to continuously help athletes be the best they can be.

The Alphafly NEXT% is an updated version of its predecessor, Vaporfly NEXT% — it features a full-length carbon fiber plate, which provides additional stability and increased stiffness to provide a sensation of momentum, lightweight Nike ZoomX Cushioning which minimises energy loss and two new Nike Zoom Air Pods which add even more cushioning, all combined by an ultra-breathable Atomknit upper.

Verified by the Nike Sport Research Lab, these three critical components work together to help runners perform their best on race day. Along with the sleek lime green and black colourway, runners will look good and feel good with the help of NEXT% technology. “Once we understood the plate and foam as a system, we started thinking about ways to make the system even more effective,” says Carrie Dimoff, an elite marathoner and member of Nike’s Advance Innovation Team.

Limited pairs of the Nike Air Zoom Alphafly NEXT% ($399) will be available exclusively on Nike.com from June 2nd.
