We’ve Got The Latest Updates On Disney’s Star Wars Theme Park

No matter whether you’re a child, a teenager or an adult, theme parks are always be a must-visit on any holiday. For us at NYLON, we love theme parks and who can blame us? There are so many thrilling rides and the sets just take you to a whole new world. Within the last decade, larger parks have started creating immersive theme parks that pull you into your favourite movie world. A couple of years ago at the D23, Disney announced that a Star Wars theme park was in the works and now they’ve confirmed that it’s opening its gates in Summer 2019!
On Tuesday, Disney announced that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open its gates to fans next Summer at Disneyland Park and Disneyland Resort in Anaheim and towards the end of 2019 at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando. This means that we’re getting both a Star Wars theme park and a Star Wars hotel in 2019? It’s a dream come true for Star Wars fans.
Disney also gave us a hint to what the park will look like and, we must say, it looks out of this world.\

Disney has been releasing more and more details about the park and each announcement gets us more excited. Here’s what we know so far:

The planet Batuu is coming to life

Each theme park will be modelled after the planet, Batuu – a remote outpost on the galaxy’s edge which homes smugglers, travellers, adventurers and those who seek a safe haven away from the reach of the First Order. To give guests a truly immersive Star Wars experience, the two star attractions of the park will make fans feel like they’re truly in the middle of the fight between the Resistance and the First Order.

You’ll be in the midst of the battle between the Resistance and the First Order

You’ll get to pilot the Millennium Falcon and complete critical missions for the Resistance (which is every Star Wars fan’s dream) but you should note that if you perform poorly, you’ll end up on Harko’s list which may cause some issues when you visit the local cantina. You won’t want that to happen, especially if you want to get a taste of Blue Milk.
The other major attraction has yet to be named but Disney has claimed that this attraction was “built on a scale [they’ve] never done before”, making you feel like you’re on a Star Destroyer in the hangar bay while a battle between the First Order and the Resistance is going on. It sounds so intense but we’re up for it.

You’ll get to meet your favourite Star Wars characters around the park

Of course, it won’t be a true Star Wars theme park if we don’t get to meet our favourite characters. Familiar faces, like BB-8, Chewbacca and members of the First Order, will make appearances around the park so keep your eyes open as roam around Batuu and you just might be able to catch them for a picture.

The park isn’t finished yet but Disney released a bird’s eye view of the 14-acre park, mid-construction, and it already looks amazing. It literally feels like we’re flying over Batuu in one of the spaceships. They always work their Disney magic, making everything look so…magical.

If you can’t wait till next Summer to get some theme park magic, you can head to Universal Studios’ The Wizarding World of Harry Potter or Pandora – The World of Avatar in Walt Disney World Resort. There will never be too many theme parks to visit.
