After taking the beauty world by storm with their nude lipsticks that’s specifically made for women of colour, Mented Cosmetics (short for pigmented), is back again with an extension to their lip offerings – lip glosses.

Founded by two women of colour, Harvard Business School Graduates, KJ Miller and Amanda E. Johnson are launching their latest Gloss for Grown Ups lip gloss collection, which consists of four nude shades, punnily named “Mauve Over”, “Berry me”, “Baby Brown”, and “Send Nudes”. According to Miller, the lip glosses are highly pigmented, not too excessively shiny, and have a slightly sweet taste to it – basically, the winning combination for kissable lips,

Admitting to being a self-confessed “hardcore lip gloss fan” herself, Johnson however struggled to find the perfect nude lip gloss that actually complemented her dark skin tone. Either that, or the formula wasn’t right. “Everything was either too sticky, too shiny, too frosty, or too sheer and didn’t complement my skin tone,” said Johnson, which explains the duo’s motive behind this new collection, making sure that women of colour everywhere know they too, have options to choose from.
