Lacoste Just Introduced Their New Crocodile And It’s Hilarious

This season, the renowned French sports-luxe label — Lacoste, is entering new creative territory by having its legendary reptilian logo undergo not one, not two, but three makeovers as reinterpreted by three artists! Each with their own distinctive style, expect to find the crocodile reinvented with the candid pen strokes of Samuel Borkson and Arturo Sandoval III of FriendsWithYou, the whimsical style of Jeremyville, and the clean touches of Jean-Michel Tixier adopted across the label’s extensive range of products. Celebrating optimism in our current climate with humour and tenderness, you’ll want to reach out and get these for an injection of upbeat energy whenever you need it.

 

FriendsWithYou

FriendsWithYou is a collaborative art project founded in 2002 by Los Angeles based artists Samuel Borkson and Arturo Sandoval III. They’re known for their immersive art installations and inflatable sculptures that are accessible beyond the art world, reaching the consciousness of popular culture with the goal of inspiring positive change in the world. For Lacoste, the duo has decided to launch the crocodile into astro orbit in a technicoloured dreamscape peopled with cutesy characters that see Lacoste’s sporting roots take an unexpectedly warm turn towards the world of kawaii.

Jeremyville

Based on two urban jungles — New York and Sydney, Jeremyville takes inspiration from comic culture-infused street art across the world for his unmistakable style. For Lacoste, the artist created a luxuriantly animated jungle, where tennis and crocodiles are blended as one. The cheeky designs see rackets and tennis balls become strange hybrid animals who befriend the four-legged reptiles in a surreal world.

Jean-Michel Tixier

French illustrator Jean-Michel Tixier has seen his artwork decorating the glossy pages of magazines, as well as the walls of the trendiest Parisian brasseries. His makeover for the crocodile is modelled on himself and the people around him. You’ll find the Lacoste icon here interpreted as a stylish hipster, bourgeois Parisian daddy, or a sportswear-crazed teen. An affectionate take that reflects the Lacoste customer from all backgrounds.
