Monsieur Christian Dior is a man of many legendary tales. Amongst them are stories that include the origins of the luxury label’s debut fragrance Miss Dior, which was so named to celebrate his sister Catherine — a WWII Resistance fighter and war hero.

Another particularly interesting tale is the designer’s unconditional love for his beloved dog Bobby, who served as his inspiration and whose name represented a marker used by the designer when picking out favourite looks from his couture collections.
With Dior Pre-Fall 2020, you’ll find a new (and recently launched) arm candy that highlights the label’s savoir-faire, riffing on the designer’s sentimental heritage in the form of the Dior Bobby bag.
On first viewing, Bobby appears simply as a handsome, frills-free shoulder bag that comes available in either buttery smooth box calfskin or the timeless yet modern Dior Oblique canvas. But it’s Bobby’s clean lines where Dior’s perfected savoir-faire is also notably best exemplified.
The bag is made only with the finest leather carefully selected by artisans, who would then shape and sculpt the various components to form the half-moon silhouette of the bag. The ’30 Montaigne’ embossed detail found tucked within the bag’s back pocket is likewise done solely by hand, as is the hand-painted finishing touches outlining Bobby’s polished edges.
A clever detail worth noting too is the placement of the bag’s magnetic closure clasp found hidden beneath the very end of the front flap’s leather strap buckle — done intentionally so, to prevent the soft, supple leather used from creasing over time when opening or closing the bag.
The Bobby also features Dior’s signature CD logo hardware — that you probably wouldn’t need to be introduced to — which along with the bag’s interchangeable shoulder straps adds a resolutely refined overall look and feel that’ll appeal to those who favour sophistication with versatility.
Available in 3 sizes, the Bobby in Small ($4,600) measures 18cm x 14cm x 5cm, with two colour options in box calfskin (Camel, Black) and a variation in blue Dior Oblique canvas.
The Bobby in Medium ($5,200) stands at 22cm x 17cm x 6cm, with three colour options (Camel, Black, Latte) and a Dior Oblique canvas variant. These two sizes come with either a matching leather or Dior Oblique canvas strap.
The biggest and boldest Bobby in Large ($5,900) measures a roomy 27cm x 19.5cm x 8cm and is currently only available in Black with a Dior Oblique canvas strap.
