The 27-inch iMac is said to feature faster intel processors, next-generation AMD graphics, a new nano-texture glass option for the Retina 5K display, a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, higher fidelity speakers, studio-quality mics, double the memory capacity and four times the storage capacity.

RETINA 5K DISPLAY

Aimed at delivering an immersive front-of-screen viewing experience, the next generation of 27-inch iMacs will have a Retina 5K display that uses 14.7 million pixels, 1 billion colours and 500 nits of brightness to deliver text that looks like a printed page, sharper photos with more detail and the ability to edit 4K videos at full resolution. It features Apple’s True Tone technology as well, which automatically adjusts the colour temperature of the display to match your ambient lighting.

The display also offers a nano-texture glass option that provides better viewing under various lighting conditions, which includes a bright room or a workspace with indirect sunlight. Unlike typical matte finishes with an added surface coating to scatter the light, the glass option gives you extremely low reflectivity with less glare while maintaining the stunning image quality and contrast of a Retina 5K display.

FASTER INTEL PROCESSORS

Professionals who are seeking a computer that can handle heavy-duty tasks will now be able to select a 10-core processor option for the first time, where they can enjoy Turbo Boost speeds that deliver up to 65% faster CPU performance. Memory-intensive applications will also be less laggy now that the iMac has double the memory capacity of up to 128GB.

Those who use pro editing apps will also be able to take advantage of large amounts of video memory for better performance with a customisable graphics option that equips the iMac with 16GB of memory for the first time — double the capacity of the previous-generation 27-inch iMac.

It also provides you with the option to include bigger internal storage, with an 8TB SSD option for the first time — four times the SSD capacity of the previous-generation.

For security, the new Apple 27-inc iMac will use the tech giant’s own custom-designed, second-generation silicon Apple T2 Security Chip. The storage controller in the T2 Security Chip will provide on-the-fly data encryption for everything stored on the SSD and to check if there has been any tampering of loaded software during the boot process.
