There’s no argument that Casio is a household name — whether you grew up using a Casio calculator or are proudly wearing one of their watches on a daily basis, most of us have interacted with the brand at some point in our lives. Unlike their recognisable G-SHOCK and BABY-G silhouettes, Casio’s EDIFICE collection of timepieces is one that’s gone slightly under the radar, though the latest pair of releases is truly hard to resist — the race car-inspired EQB-1100.
Boasting a super slim width of just 8.9mm, both models bear a brand new octagonal bezel, pairing the right amount of sport and luxury to show off on your wrist. With the help of Bluetooth Smartphone Link technology, there’s no need to worry about your watch being too fast or too slow — no matter where you are in the world, the watch can automatically connect to your smartphone, updating the time setting up to 4 times a day. They also feature Dual Dial World Time, simultaneously displaying their local time along with a secondary time zone within the leftmost dial.
Available in two sleek colourways, each timepiece boasts a non-reflective sapphire crystal watch face — the EQB-1100D-1A features cobalt blue accents against a black dial, brought together by a silver stainless steel band, while the EQB-1100DC-1A bears subtle red accents, finished with grey ion plating on the exterior. Supported by a Tough Solar power system, exposure to even the smallest amount of light enables charging, with up to 5 months battery life with regular use on a single solar charge, even without further exposure to light. If stored in total darkness after a full charge, this extends to up to 19 months of battery life with the power save function activated.
Like previous collections within the EDIFICE line, each watch also features water resistance of up to 100m, a daily alarm, full auto calendar, a stopwatch and even memory storage of up to 200 lap times.
Casio’s EQB-1100 series includes the EQB-1100D-1A ($539) and EQB-1100DC-1A ($659), and will be available at all G-SHOCK Boutiques and EDIFICE retailers from 11 September. For more information, visit edifice-watches.com.
